Grass Phylogeny Working Group

The Grass Phylogeny Working Group was established in 1996 with the goal of combining a series of existing data sets to produce a comprehensive phylogeny for the grass family.  Another more general goal of this collaboration was to help focus the further development (i.e., taxon sampling) of existing data sets.  Because of the strong support for various portions of this phylogeny, and the clear need for a revised classification of the family, the Grass Phylogeny Working Group has also presented a subfamilial classification of the grasses based on the comprehensive phylogenetic analysis and will continue to update it as needed.
